Duo BalkanTourist are pianist-composer

Milen Kirov and flutist Boris Lipov. The two renowned and award-winning musicians are defying genre, artistic, and political boundaries with a fresh and exciting blend of the traditional and the modern in music. Although living on two different continents - Kirov is based in Los Angeles and Lipov in Vienna - both share a common Bulgarian heritage, Western classical music training, and love for jazz, soul, and Latin music. Their original compositions and arrangements of traditional repertoire create a common ground for all of these music cultures and genres where sleek Bulgarian melodies and asymmetrical rhythms are seamlessly mixed with jazz improvisations, funky grooves, and classical form and elegance.
